What is Reflexology

Reflexology is a non invasive complementary therapy which helps the body to restore it's natural balance. It treats the whole person, allowing the body to fall into a deeply relaxed state and generate a feeling of improved wellbeing.

It is based on the principle that all organs, glands, muscles, bones and body systems are represented by reflexes on the feet, face, ears and hands. When specific pressure techniques are applied to the nerve reflexes circulation is improved to the relevant areas and the body can begin its own healing process.

A Natural Way to Heal

Who I Am and What I Do

image001.jpg

My name is Pippa and I am a qualified Reflexologist living in Bourton-on-the-Water in the Cotswolds. I was trained by Julie Quinn from Complementary Health Professionals using the Renee Tanner technique. I am a member of Complementary Health Professionals and The Association of Reflexologists.

I offer a non judgemental and empathetic approach to reflexology. I aim to achieve your body's own natural balance, improve your health and provide you with an overall sense of wellbeing.

My treatments are specifically tailored to the needs of each client to make sure they receive the approach that works best for them. Time and again I have seen the incredible healing power of my treatments. Please contact me to find out more.

What to expect during a treatment

Before your treatment begins I will ask you to take off socks and shoes. It is best to wear loose and comfortable clothing and trousers that can be pushed up towards your knees as reflexes are worked across the top, bottom and sides of the foot as well as the lower part of the leg.

Your first treatment will include a thorough health, diet and lifestyle consultation. This will involve you explaining any recent or long standing illnesses, what medication you may be taking and your reason for having reflexology. As part of this I will also include a foot health check. The consultation is to help identify which reflexes I may need to concentrate on and to ensure that there are no contra-indications. All information recorded will be treated in accordance with the GDPR and will remain totally confidential.

Although I will focus on reflexes linked to any health concerns you have, your first treatment will be exploratory. All of the main body systems will be covered in order to detect imbalances that will help me devise a treatment plan specific to your needs.

The treatment will begin with some relaxation techniques to open up the reflexes. This will be followed by the application of pressure using precise finger and thumb techniques across the reflexes. I work on one foot at a time. At the end of the treatment I will give you a relaxing foot massage using reflexology wax.

During the treatment most people feel relaxed and may fall asleep. You may feel tingling sensations in different parts of the body. This is normal. You may also feel discomfort or tenderness in reflexes that show an imbalance.

After your treatment we will discuss any areas of discomfort and I will offer you some home care advice. We will also discuss how many follow up treatments that you may require. Typically clients will need 4-6 treatments as a minimum to help with health concerns. Maintenance sessions are generally monthly.

Some clients may experience what is known as a healing reaction. This is the body's way of dealing with the toxins that are released during a treatment and may include feeling tired, thirsty, nauseous, energetic, increased bowel movements etc. This is a normal reaction and part of the healing process. Symptoms shouldn't last longer than 24 hours. Drinking plenty of water after your treatment will help this process.

Amazing session with Pippa.Made to feel totally relaxed and everything explained. Highly recommend for anyone to visit her.

I have suffered for the past couple of years with an arthritic knee which was gradually getting worse. I didn’t think reflexology could help with arthritis, how wrong was I! Throughout my sessions Pippa has been warm and professional. My weekly sessions help not only with the arthritis but also with other issues as Pippa is very knowledgeable in her field. I highly recommend Pippa and my knee has never felt better!!

When having a treatment with Pippa I know I can totally relax because I am in safe hands. Pippa has a positive confident touch and a professional approach to her work. She is attentive to how her client is feeling both physically and in terms of mood. She is a good listener and puts her client at the centre of her work. I usually arrive for a treatment feeling a bit strung out and physically very stiff. I leave feeling deeply relaxed, refreshed, calm and settled which is exactly what I need.

A bit of a skeptic but found this very relaxing and a pleasant surprise. Pippa started with a full comprehensive consultation of my total health background. She was clearly very interested to know me as a person and is passionate about her work. I would recommend to others without hesitation.
